The design of the sidewalk by Zinny/Maidagan refers to the poem "Un coup de dés jamais n'abolira le hazard" by the poet Stephane Mallarmé (1897 – 1914), and the transcriptions realized by Ernest Fraenkel, in "Les dessins trans-conscient de Stéphane Mallarmé" (1960), by the Italian artist Mario Diacono “JCT 1, a MeTrica n'ABOOlira" (1968) and by the Belgian artist Marcel Broodthaers “A hit of the dice will never abolish chance" (1969).
Based on the available material, the artists chose cement bricks of different colors with a rustic texture. The white color, like a sheet of paper, supports the work. The bricks were arranged, designing shapes of varying length, thickness, and tone, which directly references the poem's words, each color specifically to each page.
