The horizontally extended ecosystem "Horizon" was conceived while reading about the Mauritia palm tree described by Alexander von Humboldt during his encounter with the specimen in the Llanos in Venezuela. The palm includes all life incorporated in it, its roots, edible fruits, plants, insects.
In the unavoidable process of assimilating what was "discovered", colonial archetypes were transformed into universal canons and blended into ornaments, as a conquer-décor. As in naming botanical specimens, the name "Mauritia" is a signifier with no connection to its referent, utterly unrelated to the place on earth where it comes.
