Campo Inmediato, 2024
Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Buenos Aires
Immediate Field (2023) is a new version of the installation A Facade that Considers no Interior, Contains an Illusory Garden (2002), originally created for the Royal Library in Brussels. Twenty years later, the garden’s original green tones have mutated into oranges and reds, inspired by an aerial view of the Argentine Pampas during the drought of 2023. The glass panels are hand-painted on the reverse side, featuring visible brushstrokes, and are held by double wooden frames. In the aesthetics of the two works—one from 2002 and the other from 2023—the language of abstract modernism is both influenced by and responsive to precise temporal and geographical contexts, conferring on each piece a distinct appearance and meaning.
